How to wear a brooch in ten easy steps…


Okay, so we are not here to teach your grandmother to suck eggs! We know you know what a brooch is, but, I have had many people come up to me saying how much they love our brooches, but that they just aren’t really ‘brooch’ people. And that it’s a bit old fashioned. We understand this. It’s one of the principal reasons Little Black Brooch was created, to revive the art of the brooch and the passion for wearing them. And this means wearing them anywhere, anyhow!

I deliberately picked quite a substantial size for our ‘large’ brooches for two reasons, so you can’t miss them! (though remember we do offer medium and small sizes as well) but more importantly, so they could easily be used to decorate much more than your dresses and jackets. For instance, they really look quite striking once added onto a handbag or evening purse.

I have had many enquiries about the possibility of creating a necklace, and while we may well make something in the future, we suggest a great alternative, which is to simply pin your brooch onto your favourite string of pearls, it really looks fantastic, and the same can be done by wrapping it around your wrist as a makeshift bracelet, it’s as simple as it sounds.

Add your brooch to anything you fancy!
Your hat or fascinator, around your neck with a scarf. Pin them to a silk flower, or a headband, or even a garter belt!
